Where & When did ur Mustang addiction begin?
I know everyone has a story, so figured we could have a spot to tell it.
My addiction started in the summer of 1988 when i was invited to State Capital dragway by my next door neighbor at the time to help him with his 1966 Mustang. It had a 351 and ran 12.00's. I sat in the stands and watched the "NEW" Mustang GT's and LX's run down the track. I was hooked. I knew i needed a Mustang, and knew i wanted a LX. (Because they were faster). I bought my 1988 LX in September of 1989, and the addiction was fed. Car started out with 355's, a H-pipe, and Hoosier Dirt Bozz tires. I was rewarded with a blistering 13.89 @ 100 mph ! The car evolved as aftermarket parts became available ( remember this was 1989-1990). Eventually the car got a GT-40 intake, ported 1970 351 windsor heads, a B-303 cam ( with speed density, can you say bad idle), a set of Hedman longtube headers, and a Precision Nitrous System. In the early 1990's the car became quickly one of the fastest 5.0's in the city, and had a reputation as one mean street car. The car ran consistant 11.40-11.50's with an all time best time of 11.29 @120 mph. After purchasing my Cobra in 1995 the car was sold ( mainly because i couldnt get a street race anymore). Who knows how fast this car would be if i would not have sold it. Keep in mind FFW and all the True Street / organized racing wasnt real popular yet. Here is a shot of my first Mustang.

Its Maroon or burgandy. Thats a digital camera picture of a picture. So the quality isnt so great. I had alot of fun with that car. Best ever was a 12.35@111 mph naturally aspirated, and like i stated 11.29 @ 120 on a 175 shot. It had the original paint on it, i just washed and waxed it ALOT.

I had an '84 Z28 with a 350 that I bought in '87 after I got out of basic training. It had the 700R4 transmission and a shift kit that hit real hard. I thought it was fast until I raced a stock '88 coupe. It beat me by a half car every time. Plus the Z28 was a money pit. I sold the Camaro and made the move to Ford. I bought a brand new Escort GT! I don't know, maybe I inhaled some gas in the Army. In October of '90 I traded in the Escort for my '91 5.0 Coupe. It's been a great and fun car but it's time to let it go (still for sale!).

I was driving an 87 buick regal and took a ride in an 89 hatch with a buddy, had some bolt on parts, nothing big but we got into a race with a pretty fancy hopped up truck and won. I was hooked from that point on! I've had 8 mustangs since then.

Mine started in High school back in 1987 with a 82GT my dad and I built with 351 iron Windsor heads hand ported , performer intake, 600 Holley DP, Long tube hedders, 5 speed with a 88 roller block in it. I loved that car. It ran 12.80s all motor back in 1992 on some 26x9 inch slicks
Then after that I met Dave back in like 93 at Napa Auto parts in LaPlace Thats when I really got bit by the bug with the Fuel injection Mustangs and Dave was a big influence on me back then he helped me with tuning and what combo to run. Because all we had back then was the stock computers and the SVO extenders lol and we could still dip in the 10s with a good set of heads, intake, 70mm tb. 77Pro M meter, long tubes etc and a 150 shot of Nitrous you were in the 10s Gotta Love a 5.0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember Dave telling me he was gonna leave the Black Cobra alone lmao that didn't last long a few months later he added a Vortech blower on it and the Saga began lol The Bull Stops when the Hands drop! Yall know you can't catch a 5.0! Just remember anyone can spend money, not every one can go fast !

A couple of buddies had old Z28's(a 78 and an 80) that I thought were fast (14.30's). Anyway, within 2 months, they both sold their Z's, and bought Mustangs. I thought, something is up. After riding in their Mustangs, I was hooked. I sold my "Crap-maro" and bought the Mustang that I still have and race today. A 1991 LX that has evolved into a really nice, low 10 sec street car. I have had other Mustangs over the years, but I have managed to keep my 91. It's a great car. Best ET to date is a 10.32 @ 131.46 at Evadale Raceway back in January. ![]() Kids in cars cause accidents, accidents in cars cause kids! |

I found this video. It was filmed at FFW Ennis last year. This is the first round of Quick 8. I got beat.....I only drew the No 1 qualifier in the first round. My car is the dark blue LX. I am racing Tony Bourns. His is the car with the Jeff Gordon paint job that is screaming "I'm gay!". I treed him and 60 ft'd him, but that turbo started talking and that was all she wrote. Anyway, thought you might like to see it. http://ywnv.vidiac.com/search/true+stree...22baa6.htm

I haven't ran the car at the track yet. I smoked the clutch last August trying to race a LS1 camaro on the street. Grabbed second gear and the clutch went up in smoke I just got the new DFX in it around January and drove it a few months. Never made it to the track because I decided to go 5 lug Cobra conversion and my car is still on jack stands lol It is a never ending project! I will keep ya'll posted! Hopefully I will get it on the ground The Bull Stops when the Hands drop! Yall know you can't catch a 5.0! Just remember anyone can spend money, not every one can go fast !

Mine began when in the summer of 1986 I saw 1987 GT parked at the grocery store. It was the two tone with blue and gray. I thought it was the coolest car I had ever seen. Took me about 5-6 years to get my first 5.0 wich was a 1984 Capri 5.0. I had that for around 2 months before some bitch took off my front end off and it was totaled. Next was a 1989 GT wich lasted about 4 months. Spun out in the rain and hit a gaurd rail and flipped it on its lid. Jaws of LIfe and an episode of real stories of the Hwy patrol and that car was down the drain. A year or two later I acquired a 1988 CHP 5.0 did the normal bolt ons and it ran quite good for having 175k on the odo. I ended up trading that car for a RX7 (big mistake).
I joined the Navy and a couple years in I bought a 1997 Cobra. I had that about 2 years. wasn't anything special just headers, intake , gears, and a 75 shot. I went to make a u turn from the center lane and got nailed by a big ass truck totaled. With the insurance money I bought a 1993 lx. Wich had heads cam and all the other stuff. I put a ton of money in that car. I sold it, bought it back 8 months later than sodl it again a few months down the road. My current car I have owned once before. It is probably the nicest Mustang I have owned and is the fastest. With the old motor it made 448whp 427tq (306) and ran 11.80@119 with very little traction. After catostraphic failure it is getting a Boss block 347. Should be alot faster.

Mine started in 1985. Me and a group of friends were at a parade and a little bored so we decided to go joy riding in a friends brand new 85 GT. We were flying thru some backstreets and I was HOOKED!!! About a year later I had a brand new 86 GT. Sold that car bout a year ago and purchased an 89 LX vert to replace it. Life just isn't the same without a Foxbody to beat on. Here's a pic when the car was brand new.......
